FEF PROGRAMS

Student Scholarships

Seniors from Frisco ISD high schools are eligible to apply for college scholarships funded through the Foundation . A committee of volunteers reviews applications and awards scholarships on the basis of academic achievement , community service , volunteer efforts , college major , financial need and other criteria . The application is available each year after Thanksgiving with scholarships awarded in May .

Grants for Great Ideas

Each year , FEF invites educators to apply for a grant to support an innovative idea or project which would not otherwise be funded by the school district . The application requires educators to describe how the project would benefit student achievement and the overall classroom learning experience . A committee selects winning applications and the Foundation provides funds to make the ideas a reality .

Mindbender Academy

Mindbender Academy is a week-long camp held each June for Frisco ISD middle school students . Interactive activities are designed by FISD staff and professionals who work in science , technology , engineering , art and math ( STEaM ) fields . Registration is held each year in March and fills quickly .

Gary Burns Annual Fun Run

Held each year in October , this 5K and one-mile walk / fun run is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Frisco Education Foundation . The event includes food , entertainment and the City of Frisco fire clowns . It is named for the late Gary Burns , a former Frisco assistant fire chief , who loved to run , had a heart for students and worked to help those who could not afford to go to college .
