Showdown
Match-up on the football field pits schools named for former
Frisco ISD superintendents.
Dr. Justin Wakeland and Dr. Rick Reedy
have a long history in Frisco ISD and with
each other, making the budding rivalry be-
tween Wakeland and Reedy high schools
even more interesting.
The two men joined football players on
the field before an October game at The
Star for a ceremonial coin toss honoring

their contributions to the school district.
Dr. Wakeland served as superinten-
dent of FISD for 19 years, from 1978 to
1997. Dr. Reedy served FISD for 37 years,
first as a teacher and coach, then princi-
pal and assistant superintendent under
Dr. Wakeland. He followed Dr. Wakeland
as superintendent, serving for 16 years
until his retirement in 2013.
Both men left a lasting legacy in the
District and continue to impact the lives
of teachers and students through their
service in the community. n
