Class of 2018
Graduating seniors look back at the courses and programs that
have prepared them for the future.
Every Frisco ISD student takes a dif-
ferent path to graduation and leverages
different opportunities to meet his or her
educational goals.
Rigorous coursework, innovative pro-
grams and a number of extracurricular
activities and organizations allow FISD
students to explore their interests and
develop into well-rounded adults.
In addition to core classes in English,
mathematics, science and social stud-
ies, the District offers a wide variety of
advanced coursework and electives as
diverse as our students themselves.
Students often try many different path-
ways, activities and levels of coursework.
More than 70 Advanced Placement,
college and dual-credit courses help
students hone their communication, in-
novation and problem-solving skills, pre-
paring them for the demands of college
and career.
Professional mentors, internship op-
portunities and certification programs
also provide valuable skills, industry-spe-
cific knowledge and real-world experience.
These experiences help guide students’
plans after high school and often save
students and families the time, money and
stress that comes with changing majors
at the university level.
Students can access all of the District’s
academic programs, while still maintain-
ing a diverse network of friends and the
ability to participate in varsity athletics
and fine arts.
Frisco ISD high schools truly provide
students with choice and opportunity.

Meet five 2018 graduates who share their academic journeys
and plans after high school.
Justin Liu
Reedy High School
College Plans:
The University of Texas
at Dallas
Intended Major:
Computer Science
Justin Liu has always been drawn to
computers.
The son of a software developer, he
learned to code at a young age and built
his own computer in seventh grade.
“Taking all the CTE and computer
classes in high school really helped me
narrow what I knew I wanted,” he said.
The Reedy High School senior
took several computer courses,
including Computer Science, Computer
Maintenance and two years of
Internetworking.
He’s set to receive his
Cisco Certified Network
Associate (CCNA) certifi-
cation this spring through
a dual-credit course
taught at Collin College.
“Being able to have a
certificate and show an
employer, ‘Hey, I can do
something,’” he said, “it
does add to my resume
and my knowledge, es-
pecially in computer
science.”
Liu hopes it will trans-
late into a part-time job in
the field while he’s in college.
“You have to get a foot in the door,” he
said. “Just having that skill set can open
up any company. Maybe not the position
I want eventually, but the company.”
Liu helped launch a computer sci-
ence club at Reedy. He also plays violin
in the orchestra and took two years of
TV Broadcast.
“I’m grateful that Frisco ISD offers
such a wide variety of courses and they
are accessible to everyone,” he said.
