Impact of Rising Values on Public Education
A line on each homeowner’s annual tax statement shows the
amount due to Frisco ISD. What it doesn’t show is that the state
legislature uses local tax dollars to reduce the amount it would
otherwise contribute to public education from other sources. The
majority of the funds attributable to value growth actually benefit
the bottom line of the state’s budget.
The average Frisco ISD
homeowner saw a $483.46 increase
in their tax bill from 2016 to 2017. As a
result, the state of Texas will decrease
its contribution to FISD in 2018 by
$324.52 for the average home.*
*Calculation based on one home with
one Frisco ISD student and no changes
to the state funding formula.
