Centennial High School
Senior Finds ‘Missing
Piece’ in Wrestling
Despite neurological disorder, Christian Elmore excels in sport
he loves.
Every time Centennial High School
senior Christian Elmore walks onto the
wrestling mat, he’s trying to prove some-
thing. But it’s not what the fans watching
might expect from a 17-year-old who has
a neurological disorder and has needed
several surgeries just to walk.
“I want people to be like … He has a
disability? Who cares?” Elmore said. “He’s
going to go out there and get it done on
the mat.”
Elmore gets it done regularly for
Centennial, which is one of the state’s
top wrestling teams. At last year’s Texas
State Dual Championships, Elmore went
a perfect 5-0 and pinned all of his oppo-
nents to help Centennial finish as the
state runner-up.
Elmore’s road to wrestling suc-
cess started as a freshman, when the
Centennial wrestling coaches took notice
Centennial High School senior
Christian Elmore always liked watching
wrestling, but he didn’t think he could
compete in the sport until a Centennial
coach convinced him to try it.
