NWTC expands commitment to augmented and virtual reality by reimagining common spaces on the Green Bay campus
The Trades and Engineering atrium , located in the Engineering Technology Center on the Green Bay campus , is about to get a major facelift . As part of the College ’ s commitment to innovation and education , the atrium will undergo a drastic transformation this summer , including organic graphics , interactive displays , and Industry 4.0 technologies . In addition to the atrium , the College of Business ’ s main entrance will also be seeing an overhaul , focusing on data analytics and data visualization in supply chain and operations .
“ The goal of these projects is to create an immersive and interactive innovation experience for our students ,” said Sue Zittlow , associate dean of the College of Business .
As technology advances in all industry sectors , NWTC is committed to staying on the cutting edge . Industry 4.0 , the merging of smart digital technologies in production , manufacturing , and operation practices , has become increasingly important for regional businesses to stay competitive and meet industry demands . The evolution of advanced automation and a technologycentric workforce has continued to change the way NWTC teaches .
“ We are positioning graduates to become innovation leaders in Northeast Wisconsin ,” said Jill Thiede , associate dean of Trades and Engineering Technologies . “ These technologies have become increasingly important for regional businesses , and we want to role model the technologies and skills that will advance our region ’ s workforce .”
The reimagined spaces will highlight NWTC ’ s continued commitment to advancing Northeast Wisconsin and its dedication to ensuring a highly skilled and qualified workforce . The immersive experiences will be revealed this fall , in a grand reopening of the Trades and Egineering atrium and College of Business main entrance .
Recent employee achievements
Dr . Bob Mathews , vice president of Finance , earned his Doctorate in Career and Technical Education .
Kevin Anderle , English instructor , earned his Master of Science in Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages .
Jami Van Enkevort , Dental instructor , received one of three national dental assisting scholarships from the American Dental Assistants Association and Dental Assisting National Board .
NWTC ’ s biomedical electronics program fills crucial gaps in the healthcare workforce
Like many industries , healthcare continues to get more advanced as smart technologies continue to make their way into the beds and operating rooms of the hospitals and clinics in Northeast Wisconsin . As these life-saving tools get more advanced , the need for competent technicians to build , maintain , and troubleshoot the tools increases . Projections show more than 1,400 annual job openings for biomedical engineers and technicians through 2030 . As nursing shortages continue to plague the state , there has never been a higher demand for biomedical technicians to ensure that equipment is functioning properly .
NWTC ’ s Biomedical Electronics program gives students options after graduation - from product testing and design to field service or sales . These behind-the-scenes jobs are crucial components of comprehensive patient care in increasingly hightech health systems .
