New look for Alumni Association

The newly ( re ) formed NWTC Alumni Association board of directors began meeting in the fall of 2020 . In addition to reviewing and approving the recently developed alumni engagement plan , the board of directors recently approved a new alumni association logo and branding designed by the NWTC marketing and communications staff . NWTC alumni will continue to see the familiar teal blue with the addition of College brand colors as part of the design .
This new look will be incorporated into the alumni newsletter , social media sites , and all written communications . For more information about alumni association activities and to learn how you can become an engaged NWTC alum , visit nwtc . edu / Alumni .

Helping organizations understand diversity , implement equity , and have a vision towards inclusion

By Mohammed Bey , NWTC Chief Diversity Officer
In my 15 years of immersing myself in diversity , equity , and inclusion , I have noted three consistent principles for building an organizational framework :
• Organizations must define what diversity , equity , and inclusion look like and build an intentional culture around that framework .
• Support the health of its workforce by providing ways for personal and professional engagement .
• Communicate its DEI values to its customers and ensure there is alignment around what the organization aspires to do , and what the customer experiences .
Moving towards your vision for inclusion is not an overnight journey . The benefits of infusing diversity into your organization will birth many benefits . These include but are not limited to enhanced productivity and profitability , expanded thinking , increased employee engagement and retention , and a better / healthier organizational brand .
In 2017 , NWTC launched the Center for Equity and Growth ( CEG ) with the mission of bringing people together to cultivate transformational change in our communities around equity and diversity . CEG ’ s vision is to establish a partnership with local organizations that provides equity education , resources , and training , and to serve as a flagship for community inclusivity .
Since its implementation , CEG has offered customizable training programs , in-person and virtual seminars , and consulting opportunities . The CEG continues to serve NWTC ’ s District and is on the forefront of this journey .
