A NEW VISION

NWTC STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS BUILD ON STRONG FOUNDATION

Meet Greg Phillips , Victor Vue , and Christine Walters – three Northeast Wisconsin residents with different backgrounds and career paths .
Phillips grew up in a rural part of the region , spending hours in his dad ’ s shop and developing a knack for all things mechanical . He is now a full-time mechanic at the City of Green Bay ’ s Department of Public Works . Vue , the son of immigrant parents , is a public safety officer with the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department who recently obtained national EMT certification . Walters , a lifelong learner who holds a master ’ s degree in nursing and post-master ’ s certificate , is a wound-care nurse practitioner at Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area in Marinette .
What do Vue , Walters , and Phillips have in common ?
They are among the more than 70,000 NWTC alumni who use their strengths and skills to help their communities thrive . All three are shining examples of how NWTC has been preparing individuals for familysustaining careers and advanced degrees for more than a century .
“ I would describe NWTC as an opportunity ,” said Phillips . “ Just because you can go there and learn and get hands-on with it . Just to be able to do something and be a part of something bigger .”
For Vue , attending NWTC was the smart choice . “ Going to NWTC is going to be financially smarter , but also the school provides many opportunities with a multitude of programs and certifications that can transfer ,” he said .

Over the next four years , even more residents like Phillips , Walters , and Vue will be able to achieve their goals and strengthen their communities . Under its new strategic plan , “ Navigating Degrees of Change ,” the College is working to increase educational opportunities for all in Northeast Wisconsin .
8 FRIENDS OF NWTC 2025
Greg Phillips ’ full-time role with the City of Green Bay started with an internship opportunity as an NWTC student . And before that he took advantage of dual credit offerings in high school , completing the first year of NWTC ’ s two-year diesel program before graduating from Luxemburg-Casco High School . Under “ Navigating Degrees of Change ,” NWTC is working to strengthen K12 and employer partnerships to increase such opportunities .
