NWTC ’ s regional learning centers : more ways to soar higher
Starting this October , residents from the Aurora , Crivitz , Luxemburg , Oconto Falls , and Shawano areas will have more ways to earn an NWTC certification or credential in their communities .
The programs are designed to help people gain hands-on skills and knowledge to start degrees , advance their careers , and prepare for new career fields – in only 16 weeks ( two eight-week class sessions ). The expanded course offerings include business , manufacturing , health sciences , communication , and public safety programs .
Courses will be offered through a blend of in-person and virtual instruction that varies by the program , offering additional flexibility .
The new course offerings , funded in part by federal COVID-19 relief , are part of the College ’ s goal to make education more accessible to all students in the region .

Students benefit from COVID-19 relief funding
NWTC is using federal COVID-19 relief funds to make college more accessible to students during the global pandemic . With the funds , the College has been able to offer limited debt forgiveness , emergency financial relief , and additional needs-based tuition assistance to help students in most need of financial support .
Two of three funding rounds have been distributed . As of July 1 , 2021 , NWTC distributed more than $ 3.7 million to students per the terms and conditions outlined in the grant awards from the U . S . Department of Education .

The third round of funding , the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III ( HEERF ), was signed into law with the American Rescue Plan . The money was made available to students this fall semester and will continue to be an option for future semesters while funds last .
