Invest , Dream , Achieve empowers women to reach educational goals
Invest , Dream , Achieve ( IDA ) is a collaboration between the Women ’ s Fund of Door County ( a component fund of the Door County Community Foundation ) and NWTC . The partnership started in 2018 with a $ 200,000 grant from the Women ’ s Fund to empower women to reach their educational goals , become financially stable , and explore career opportunities . The program is about more than just attending college and studying - it also has built-in career experiences , financial literacy training , and monthly support meetings .
“ We meet with different people , from banks to HELP of Door County . Every month is different , and we learn a lot ,” said Lisabeth Larson , an IDA participant . A fulltime NWTC student , Larson also works full time and volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters .
Even more than the educational and financial support , Larson appreciates the IDA community . “ It ’ s just great to have that women support ... I have an awesome support system ,” she said .

Augmented reality brings projects to life for NWTC students and industry partners .
Local business partners with NWTC to expand use of augmented and virtual reality
EMT International is working with NWTC to create augmented reality / virtual reality ( AR / VR ) troubleshooting capabilities for its service engineers . Located in Hobart , EMT manufactures finishing equipment and web transports for the digital / inkjet market and has customers around the globe .
With funding from the Wisconsin Technical College System ’ s Workforce Advancement Training grant program , NWTC is helping EMT International create and train employees to use AR / VR systems to troubleshoot products , train new technicians and operators , and work through production changeovers . In a perfect world , EMT International would have service technicians and engineers available to its customers onsite 24 / 7 . Since that isn ’ t possible , the company is leveraging new Industry 4.0 technologies to take its customer service and remote troubleshooting to the next level .
