Bey will be NWTC ’ s first chief diversity officer

NWTC welcomes Mohammed Bey as its first Chief Officer for Diversity , Equity and Inclusion . He will help NWTC initiate , sustain and evaluate efforts to close achievement gaps , bring more students of color into high-wage careers and recruit more diverse talent to faculty and staff .
“ I ’ ve been at the college a while and I understand what some of the opportunities and challenges are ,” he said . “ We have a good group of individuals around the table leading the college , and the work is not easy . We still
have achievement gaps to close and some significant effort ahead of us , and it ’ s going to take all of us .”
Bey has been working in the college ’ s Talent and Culture Department as director of diversity and inclusion since 2014 . Before joining NWTC , Bey had been director for multicultural education at Quinnipiac University in Hamden , Connecticut . He has a bachelor ’ s degree in communication and a master ’ s in organizational leadership from Marian University , Fond du Lac , and is pursuing a doctoral degree .

Mechanical Design grad receives Distinguished Alumni Award

NWTC is honored to announce that Jeff Tyndall ‘ 77 has been named the 2020 recipient of the NWTC Distinguished Alumni Award .
After serving in the United States Air Force , Tyndall enrolled at NWTC in the Mechanical Design associate degree program and began what would become a successful education and professional career .
Even before graduation , he had secured a job at Paper Converting Machine Company ( PCMC ) in Green Bay . Tyndall spent much of his career at the company , from his beginning as a mechanical detailer to technical support team member . He retired in 2016 .
Tyndall , with the help of his employer , established the Jim and Laura Tyndall Memorial Scholarship Fund at NWTC in 2010 after his son and daughter-in-law were killed in a car crash .
Tyndall said his goal over the next few years is to increase the Jim and Laura Tyndall Memorial Scholarship Fund endowment balance to $ 100,000 .

Oliver receives first Soaring Recent Alumni Award

NWTC is pleased to honor Jenni Oliver ‘ 17 with the Soaring Recent Alumni Award . The new award celebrates a recent alum who is soaring both personally and professionally .
Oliver , who graduated from the college ’ s Leadership Development and Human Resources programs , is a champion of diversity and inclusion throughout the Green Bay community .
She holds a bachelor ’ s degree in Human Resources from Concordia University of Wisconsin and currently is a director of Institute Operations and Social Equality at The Privilege Institute .
Oliver plays an active role in the community . She serves on the boards of several local organizations , including the Brown County Martin Luther King Jr . Celebration Committee and the Green Bay Society for Human Resource Management ( SHRM ), Diversity & Inclusion team . She is a founding member and co-chair of the Green Bay Chapter of GLSEN , a grassroots initiative working to ensure safe schools for all students , regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity .
