LOVE POEM
The small possum
I ran into face to face
in the back garden,
both of us shocked
by so sudden a meeting,
this dear-faced
innocent possum who might next
have slipped inside the house,
brave as a raccoon,
after the cat’s food,
I frightened him with my too loud
“Hello!” Oh, I tell you
I loved that little beastie
in a small way
for a small while.
