#1) Do you know the difference between an STD and an STI?
Parent: “ I don’t know”
How I responded “ an STI is an infection that can happen more than once nor an STD is something that starts off as an STI but if left untreated can become an STD”
#2) Why don’t you know the difference between them?
Parent: “ My school never taught me about this topic, and my parents ”
#3) why don’t you think parents feel comfortable talking about this topic?
Parent: “ A lot of parents don’t want to bring up this topic because it's embarrassing. They also don’t want their kids to think they should be sexually active. The reason that's its embarrassing is because our parents never talked about this topic so I don’t know how to bring it up ”
#4) Do you think teens should learn about this topic?
Parent: “ Yes because, I think that Teens should learn about this topic but they shouldn’t be sexually active”
#5) How often do you think your teens should get tested?
Parent: “ once a year”

#1) Why is it that adolescents don’t talk to their parents about STIs?
Student: “ because they are embarrassed to ask. It's an embarrassing topic to talk about it's not a topic you bring up to your parents.”
#2)What are the difference between an STD and a STI?
Student: “Don’t know”
#3) Do you think that parents should talk to their teens about STIs? Why?
Student: “Yes because then teenagers will know the outcomes of their chances, of contracting an STI”
#4) Do you think teens should know more information about this topic? Why?
Student: “ Yes because teens should know what they are and how to get help”
#5) Do you think that parents that aren’t talking about this topic are creating more evil than good? If so why?
Student: “ they are creating more evil because they aren’t teaching them about this topic which they are creating misconceptions and are part of the problem ”
