Get Prepared Joshua 1:2 I was getting ready to teach a bible study lesson, and preparing the room, cleaning up and putting things in place. I looked as my daughter and step son was playing around with the offering basket. While they’re playing with the baskets, I realized they’re actually not playing, they’re preparing. Something so small as picking up the money. Something that most people don’t think about. They took the time out to make sure they had it right. Who would hold it? Where would we sit? Daddy when do we come up? Daddy when do we come up to grab the basket? Who was going to pray after taking up the offering? Do we need a mic to pray? All of these questions they asked before bible even started. Something struck inside of me… what are you practicing? What are you preparing for to do that has no benefit to you? But to make sure someone you love doesn’t have to worry about it. What are you doing in your life, what are you sacrificing what are you taking time out of your busy schedule to make sure that someone else doesn’t have to worry about it. If everything that you do, benefits you, you have a sad life. The greatest joy you get is by helping someone else… lending someone else a helping hand. Giving them advise that maybe doesn’t benefit you. We don’t give beneficial advise because sometimes it becomes hazardous to our lifestyle. So, I ask… What are you preparing for? What are you practicing? Without even thinking about it, these children had taking time out of their schedule, time out of their day to stop playing to prepare for an act of worship. An act of being appreciated for when it was time to do it. And when I called on them, they had a smile on their face. I didn’t have to ask, nor beg them I didn’t have to promise them anything. Just because they were in the right place with the right attitude, other things opened up for them. So, I ask today, what have you missed out on because you had the wrong attitude and lack of preparation? Be prepared… get prepared. DAILY LOVE FROM HIM ABOVE Rev. Otis Petteway September Edition 7
