Dr. Terrance D. Grant-Malone, is the Pastor of the Historic St. John Missionary Baptist Church on Dowling, 2702 Dowling Street, Houston, TX 77004. He preached his first sermon as Pastor, May 15, 2005. He was baptized August 29, 1983 by Dr. G.W. Daniels at the Sunlight Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas. Rev. Grant-Malone accepted his call to the ministry at the tender age of fifteen. He has served in various ministerial capacities. Previous to God placing him at St. John, he labored as a licensed and ordained minister at Fellowship Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas. While in undergraduate school he served as the college minister at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Austin, TX, under the leadership of Dr. G. V. Clark. Dr. Grant-Malone served as the Vice-President of the National Baptist Youth and Young Adult Convention of America, Inc. He is a sought after evangelist, educational facilitator, motivational / keynote speaker, and lecturer. He has spoken throughout all regions of the U. S. and even in other countries. He has spoken in churches, schools, universities, company retreats, prisons and in many other arenas. Educational concentration has always been an essential part of his success. After graduating from Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, TX with a Bachelor of Arts in English, he went on to earn a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Christian Education from Aspen Christian College & Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado. Additional studies at Lamar University and special seminars at The Seminario Evangelico in San Juan, Puerto Rico, have been completed. Dr. Grant-Malone is a member of the oldest and most prestigious fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., was initiated at the Delta Chapter at Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas and the Texas Council of Alpha Chapters Chaplain, as well as the Southwest Regional Chaplain for Alpha Phi Alpha. He is recognized as a young yet influential member of his community. Texas State Teachers Association, National Alliance of Black School Educators and a member of the National Education Association. He has completed the writing of his first song with recording artist Jassette Whitaker-Simmons, Worship that is Worthy and has completed his single Christ Our Lord arranged by Canice Njoku. Politically, Dr. Grant-Malone has served at the request of President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee and Former United States Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. In denominational work, he has served as a writer and instructor for NBCA Congress and Christian Education. He now serves as the National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc.; National Director of Youth and Children’s Convention. Dr. Grant-Malone also leads as President of Fellowship United District Association of Texas. He has been a contributing force in higher education as a ten year board trustee of Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, TX and now serves as a board trustee at Philander-Smith College in Little Rock, Ark. Dr. Grant-Malone is a contributing expositional writer in V. Michael McKay’s book of hymns, “God Talk: Sounds of a Sanctuary”. He has also produced several publications on Urban Outreach Ministry and the Role of Deacons in the local church. He is in the process of completing his book entitled, “Embracing the Journey” due to release in the fall of 2016. Dr. Grant-Malone is an articulate orator and an expositor par excellent. He is known for his intellectual capacity and his high-spirited, powerful preaching. Like Moses he is a leader, like Isaiah he is a preacher of righteousness, like David he is subject to human frailty, like Enoch he walks with God, like Daniel he knows the power of prayer, like Paul he is not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, like Jesus he sacrifices himself for the good of others and is truly a man of God, with a vision from God, for the people of God. 12 October Edition
