One morning during my walking-devotion, not long ago, I asked God to show Himself to me. To open my eyes to see Him, open my ears to hear Him, to do something, anything to let me know that He remembered my address and knew my state. For some time I’d felt as if I’d been talking to a brick wall, that He went off to the Bahamas or somewhere, leaving me behind without telling me. From that moment on, over the course of the day, I expected to see Him, to hear Him, expected something out of the ordinary, a postcard from the Bahamas, some small thing that would assure me that He knew I was alive and insecure.
