Partner of The Month Tell me about yourself? We met as freshmen at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri-college sweethearts who graduated together and married five months later. Reggie grew up outside of Pittsburgh in Edenborn, Pennsylvania. Regina grew up in Gary, Indiana which is outside of Chicago, Illinois. Before coming to Houston the place where God wanted us to be-we lived in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, St. Louis, Missouri and San Antonio, Texas. Reggie was employed for Missouri Pacific Railroad and under some unusual circumstances they gave us a choice of cities to relocate. We were young with two children and choose Houston, not knowing anyone. God knew his plans for us and as, a result of our choice our family members (all of Regina’s siblings and mom) and life long friends moved to Houston one, by one. What are your favorite scriptures? Lamentations 3 (22-23) Psalms 13 Psalms 91 Ephesians 6 (10-21) Ephesians 1 (13-14) How would you describe your prayer life? We live a life of prayer. Prayer is our life line. How has prayer changed your life? Without prayer-we would not have a life. I cannot imagine how we would have overcome a variety of life circumstances. Prayer prepares you to face life challenges, so that God gets the glory in all aspects of your life. A life of prayer give you power and ability to witness. What would you say are the benefits of having an active prayer life? Having an active prayer life gives you an intimate relationship with God,. As, a believer-life is a journey and on this journey we plan, we set 20 August Edition Reggie and Regina Ford goals, we seek to do the rights things however, you do not know what will be your next joy, sorrow, trial or tribulation. When the storms of life knock at your door- with an active prayer life you able to with stand the turmoil’s of life. God is the only one that knows the future With our hands in his hand, trusting & communing with him -he allows us to walk thru this life abundantly. If you could give some advice to someone considering joining the ministry what would it be? If, you are serious about your walk with God, your prayer life, your desire to be whole-Genesis is the church for you. After, thirty two years of following Pastor Williams leadership-ask God to show you his heart this will settle any doubts. What drew you to the Genesis Church? With hind sight you have 20/20 vision. When we moved to Houston in 1980-a co-worker invited us to Antioch Baptist Church, Rev. John Hill Westbrook was the pastor, It was thru his passing- God gave us Pastor Williams. Reggie grew up in the Baptist church. Regina grew up in the Methodist denomination (C.M.E.Church) and had never been in church turmoil or voted for a pastor. We voted for Pastor Williams & this vote changed our life and walk with God. Pastor Williams is truly God’s man and teaches God’s word so you can clearly apply it to your daily living.
