worthless - it’s nauseating. As an old
adage goes...how come people who
think they know everything never
seem to know when to shut up. The
moral of the story is this: No matter
your politics, be unique. Be yourself.
Create your own style. Remember,
it’s a radio show and not a court
session and you are not a member
of a jury nor are you a judge. It’s a
radio show.”
During the time of the interview,
Pillay had a few weeks left on
his drivetime radio show at
SAFM before leaving the station
to explore other avenues which
he promised to share when the
time comes. “My microphone has
switched off for a while and who
knows where and when my mic will
switch on next, watch this space,”
says Pillay. I ask him if there is a pos-
sibility of him establishing a radio
academy and he says: “Ernest Pillay
Radio Broadcast Master class was
launched in 2016, but have been put
on hold due to sponsorships; there is
indeed a great need to resume the
Master class to help develop young
people and unlock fresh new talent,
both on air and radio
management.”
Speaking about the show on SAFM,
he says: “The show was designed
around the following critical fac-
