Red Sox Parade
For many years, writers referred to Green Bay as “Title Town” in
pointing to the many championships of the Green Bay Packers,
but where have championships been more prominent in the last
12 years than right here, in Boston? Beginning with the Patriots
first Super Bowl in 2001 and extending to this past fall with the
Red Sox, Boston professional teams have won eight professional
championships, an unprecedented period in Boston sports
history. If ever there was a “Title Town,” it’s right here in Boston
and New England.
On Saturday, November
2nd, fans from a fan base
that spreads across New
England and calls itself “Red
Sox Nation”lined the streets
of Boston to celebrate the
World Series Champions.
As many as 2 million fans
cheered as their Red Sox
passed in what has become
the traditional “Duck Boat”
Parade. With security an
ever-present
concern,
several hundred members
of the Department joined Boston Police and surrounding
agencies for the celebration. Weather was perfect, crowds were
exceptionally well behaved, and kids (young and old) celebrated
with the boys of summer. The parade began at Fenway Park
and made stops at the Marathon Finish Line as well as what has
become the traditional voyage in the Charles River.

makes your work so impressive. From crashes to homicides to
lives saved, we’ll look back at all of it in our January edition. But
for today, and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, whether you wear
our uniform or are one of our hundreds of dedicated civilian
support staff, I want you to know how thankful this Department
is for your service. I want to wish you all a happy holiday season.
Thanksgiving - Thank You for What You Do
Each time I read one of the thousands of Situational Awareness
Messages (SAM) that are sent from our Duty Offices , often
multiple times a day, I am reminded of the
tremendous work that each of you do and the
dangers our Troopers are exposed to every
day, year in and year out. During every awards
ceremony, I’m inspired by how many lives are
saved – how many people will be present at a
Thanksgiving table -- simply because you were
there and made a difference. December brings
us to the end of the calendar year and time
to reflect on the year’s happenings No one
will look back on 2013 without immediately
thinking of the Boston Marathon bombing
response or the enormous security provisions
put in play for the Fourth of July. However, the
work that that occurs here, every day, is just as
impressive. In next month’s edition of French &
Electric Blue, we’ll recap the statistical data that
