HE SUZUKI NINE
KNIGHTS is a unique trilogy
of action sports events. The
three sessions that make
up the series are the Nine
Knights Snow, the Nine
Queens Snow, and the Nine Knights MTB.
The 2015 Snow events both took place back in
April. With the snow melted, the final part of
the series, the Nine Knights MTB, went down
in early September.
All three Nine Knights events follow a fully
rider-focused format. Each event comprises of
a week-long ‘Super Session’ where the athletes
simply ride the crazy, castle-themed courses in
a fun, creative and pressure-free environment.
The name of the game is to progress your
riding, get the best shots imaginable and have
a blast whilst doing it!

With new tricks in the bag and bangers in
the bank, the final day of the week is always
‘contest day’. This is when the riders make
their best efforts to stomp the tricks they

have been learning and perfecting all week.
A selection of sweet prizes are of course up
for grabs, with 2015 sending a handful of
winners to week-long surf-camps in Portugal.
To emphasise the athlete-focused theme of the
Nine Knights even more, the votes in many of
the award categories are cast by fellow riders.
Nine Knights is not exclusive to big name pro
athletes however. Before each event, a couple
of wildcard spots are allocated to the ‘Become
a Knight/Queen’ video contest winners.
This is where up-and-coming shredders can
submit their best edits for a chance to join in
the session and spend some time riding with
their heroes.
And it’s not just about the athletes either.
Nine Knights always puts a big focus on
photographers and cinematographers. As well
as multiple film crews producing some of the
best edits of the year, a photo contest for the
invited photographers is held at each round
and it never disappoints.
