BIKE PORN: ALVARO DAL FARRA’S KX450F PARTY FLUO EDITION
“The laser gives it a touch of sharpness
and precision which is unique and creates
an effect of perfection: special yet simple
and straightforward at the same time,” says
Alvaro.
Many of the standard parts were also
substituted with aftermarket components.
The stock nuts and bolts were replaced with
aluminium and titanium ones, and various
technical parts such as the sump guard and
the foot pegs were replaced.
The whole project took Alvaro and the team
about 4-5 months to complete. “It took a long
time because the whole thing was essentially
an experiment,” Alvaro tells us. “Some stages
we had to do two or three times until we got
it right.”
Creating a bike like this is not a one-man
job. We asked Alvaro how many people were
involved in the project from start to finish.
“It took one person to do the initial design
and graphics, one to complete the sticker
graphics, one to do the anodising, one for
the spray painting, two people for the laser
engraving, two for the transfer printing, one
mechanic and a team of three people for the
video and photo shoot. So about thirteen
people all together including myself!”
Using some of these innovative methods and
techniques on a dirt bike for the first time
was never going to be easy. “One of the most
difficult parts of the build was the transfer
printing done by Fedon Technologies,” Alvaro
tells us. “Because all the parts are handmade
piece by piece, you can’t afford to make a
mistake. If you do, you need to throw that
piece away and start the whole process
again. The laser engraving by Piazza Rosa
was the most technical and precise part of
the project. The team needed to calculate
the unique curves of each and every part and
then adapt the machines accordingly.”
According to Alvaro, the most timeconsuming part of the entire project was in
fact shooting the photos and video footage of
all the bike parts hanging from the wires. That
doesn’t surprise us when you imagine just
how fiddly that must have been!
The final question on our minds was of
course ‘what is this sucka like to ride’? “This
bike gives me a lot of power and energy,”
explains Alvaro. “This is the reason I do these
bike projects. When I’m in the seat ready to
ride, I need my bike to be tailored exactly
to me. It gives me more comfort, power,
motivation and style to ride... This is the Ride
to Party spirit!” T
