out and smell the fu*king roses - I was pumped. I met so many cool people in there. I wanted to change my life so bad; I ended up staying an extra four months.” £ Colin competes in Step Up at X Games VII Like the adage goes in recovery: with a sober life you get everything back; friends, material possessions and family. Eventually the pieces of the puzzle began coming back together for Morrison, one at a time. “As soon as I got out of rehab, I started working with my buddy on my first clothing company - SMBG Clothing. I met my now girlfriend Ashley and things just kept getting better,” Morrison explains. About a year after starting SMBG, Colin developed a taste for business and started another brand: SKVI with his homie D-Loc from Kottonmouth Kings. The inspiration for this brand came about after Colin felt the underwear his current sponsors were providing him with, simply wasn’t up to the job. The clever name however, was thought up by his girlfriend. When the company was still in its infancy, the guys brought in business guru Jeff Metcalf as a partner. Not long after this, Wee Man and Byron from Pennywise also got involved and invested in SKVI. The goal was to create a brand of underwear that was better than the rest, and run by the right people. Right now SKVI is going from strength to strength. Taking a full swing at his sobriety, Morrison prides himself primarily on his FMX classes. This project enables him to give back to freestyle motocross; the sport that gave him so much and took it all away again. He teaches small classes of 5-10 riders, mostly beginners, as it allows him to give each rider the attention they need. Colin teaches the eager FMX rookies on a set-up that is safe and has a beginner size gap, out at Piru Ranch MX Park, CA. Not many new-comers to FMX can jump the 75-foot gaps found on competition courses right off the bat, so Colin builds riders’ confidence the right way, and helps riders progress in stages. © BAKKE/SHAZAMM/ESPN “I’m doing my FMX classes and working on building SMBG and SKVI. Things couldn’t be any better. I’ve got a truck again and my girlfriend and I just moved into our own place.”
