RAGE’NRESPECT The Rage ‘N Respect crew are renowned for putting out really cool, well-made FMX edits. All their films, produced by Julien Chat (Adrenafilm), are original, well-filmed and edited, have cool soundtracks and are full of sick riding. If you haven’t seen them you should go check ‘em out online! “It’s always cool to see people enjoy what we do,” says Gerald. “There are so many FMX edits out on the internet that it’s not easy to be original and to create new or almost unseen shots. Julien Chat and I always team up and rack our brains to find a way to stand out. It’s a great pleasure to set up a project and then see the end result on a big screen. We always try to work as a team to be as creative as possible, and get the most out of every video we make.” explains Gerald. “It’s hard to find enough sponsors to fund the projects these days. In the beginning, I personally invested a fair amount of money into our videos, before we got support from Dickies Europe and Von Zipper Europe (which no longer exist).” Looking to the future Gerald optimistically says: “Dickies Europe are supporting us more and more in the direction we are taking things - it’s cool. If we could find more sponsors who are keen to get involved in producing edits, we could push our videos even further. There may be some surprises in 2015, who knows, we definitely have some ideas in the pipeline!” For 2015, the Rage ‘N Respect guys will be taking part in the TV program ‘La France a un incroyable talent’ (the French version of Britain’s Got Talent). “I created a team with some guys from Rage ‘N Respect, plus two buddies of ours. You need to be motivated to achieve this kind of project - it’s not like doing a normal FMX demo.” Says Gerald. Initially, the team consisted of Franck Bataille, Corentin Corbet, Guillaume Faurie and Gerald, but Gerald crashed and injured both legs during the first practise. “I fractured my tibial plateau and talus bone after hitting neutral at the top of the ramp. I felt pretty embarrassed for crashing like that [laughs].” recalls Gerald. “I then invited Elie Averty and Yann Le Quellec to galvanize the group. Those guys fitted into the team well and represent who we are perfectly: down-to-earth guys who don’t take ourselves too seriously.” “Being quite underground, we’ve slightly surprised the French FMX scene by taking part in a TV program broadcasted on mainstream French channel at 8.50pm.” says Gerald. “I think FMX in France will benefit from being brought to a larger audience. That’s mainly why we did it. I’m hoping this project will create new opportunities and help us give back to the roots of the sport with more substantial means, as well as give us the opportunity to do things like produce some good freeride edits.” The Rage ‘N Respect crew have always put an emphasis on the freeride side of things, and are influenced by the DBK movement in California. “420% All Natural and Chasing the Storm made us want to burn our ramps. Before lighting the match, we realized we still need them too much at the moment [laughs]. We just plan to stay ourselves and to keep having fun together. We’ll see where it takes W2
