especially in Charente, as Gerald
explains, “There are more riders
and spots now than ever before.
Guillaume has a huge spot in
Cognac, right in the middle of the
vineyards. His park is made up
of four landings, but we mostly
use the main landing as it’s the
nicest to ride. Going onto the
main landing is a super kicker
and three other ramps set at 23
meters. There is one in the middle
for quad bikes, and then two
on either side for dirt bikes. The
ramps are set-out like this so that
two people can jump at the same
time which is always great fun!
There is also a nice big foam pit –
it’s sick! Franck and Nicolas also

own a home spot very close to
Saint-Jean-d’Angély. Corentin and
Jean have parks really close to
where they live too.” says Gerald.
“I think that Charente is the core
area with the most riders. There
are quite a lot of jam sessions
going on during the summer to
get all these dudes together at
their home compounds. Now,
underground events are being
held all over the place and more

who suffered a fatal crash whilst
riding a show in Italy in 2011.
“This event pays tribute to Kevin
‘Jacko’ Jacquemin. It’s always
a big event where all his friends
just hang out, ride and party. The
event is also a great opportunity
for French FMX riders to get
together, jump some ramps, show
their progress and see some new
faces. There’s always a big party
where a lot goes down, and new
stories are born every year! He
died too young.” says Gerald.
One key event on the amateur
French FMX scene is ‘Jacko’s
Jam’, an annual FMX jam that
is put on in remembrance of a
French rider, Kevin Jacquemin,
“Through his riding and his spirit,
Kevin has left his mark on the
French FMX scene. Jacko’s Jam
is our way of paying respect to
this absolute legend.”
