explains Gerald. “It’s hard to
fully live off it, but all the riders
in the crew live to ride.” The
crew members do a variety of
different jobs to help fund their
passion. Gerald manages the
stock for a clothing brand, Jean is
a bartender, Guillaume is a wine
producer and Franck and Corentin
are machine operators, which
comes in handy when it’s time for
the team to build new jumps.
The team does a handful of
demos every year across France.
“Nicolas and Guillaume do the
most demos.” says Gerald. “They
do about five, nothing amazing,
but the others do a bit less. There
are a lot of riders in France and
the spots for demos are becoming
more and more sought-after. We
just kind of do our own thing at
our own pace.”
For the Rage ‘N Respect crew,
finding good FMX contests to
ride is difficult too. “In France,
contest-wise, it’s kind of quiet.”
explains Gerald. “Cyril Porte
had tried to organise a full
championship off the back of the
‘FMX Cup’ event in 2010, but due
to a lack of funding we couldn’t
keep it going. It’s too bad, it was a
good springboard for the amateur
