Oh definitely. I have no problem
doing big tricks and flipping big
natural stuff like out at Reche
Canyon, Ocotillo Wells or out in
the hills. It never seemed hard for
me and I think that comes from
riding in the gravel pits, digging
steep, short jumps and playing
around on those. I sorta got used
to it and made the best of what
I had, and it seemed to translate
across to places like Ocotillo that
have short, steep faces.
Sweet. Five years down the
track from now, where do you
see yourself?
Hopefully still riding! I’m 29
and I’m still one of the younger
Nuclear Cowboyz riders. I’m in
the best shape of my life right
now, so if there are no serious
injuries I’ll still be riding on some
big tour somewhere. Before that
though, I want to get some good
results at contests, then slow that
down and focus on shows and
tours.
And where do you see FMX in
five years time?
I have no idea. I think FMX is in a
tough spot right now, what with
Nuclear Cowboyz not happening,
FMX being cut from the Dew tour
and this year’s X Games not going
too well because of the weather.
X-Fighters and Nitro Circus are
both still killing it and no-one
wants the sport to decline, but
there are very limited events and
contests to go and ride at now.
It’s harder than it’s ever been for
the young guys coming through
to get their names out there, so
I think freestyle’s at a bit of a
tipping point at the moment. Like
everyone, I hope it tips the right
way and the sport bounces back.
Awesome. Thanks for the chat,
Brody. Catch up with you again
soon.
Thank you. Appreciate it. T
