Maikel Melero now tops the
overall standings of the FMX
World Championship with 94
points after six rounds. The
victory in Cologne has extended
the Spaniard’s lead with Dany
Torres being his closest pursuer
with 80 points. All the riders
must have been hitting the foam
pits over the mid-year break,
as Cologne saw a huge leap
forward in the level of riding. New
tricks were brought out by nearly
every rider, and Body Varials, a
previously rare sight at NIGHT of
the JUMPs, were being thrown all
over the place. It was also cool to
see the quarter pipe back out on
the Night of the JUMPs course,
giving riders the opportunity
to really mix up their runs and
attempt tricks like 540s.
The next two contests in the FIM
Freestyle MX World Championship
take place at NIGHT of the
JUMPs in Shenzhen, China (1st
& 2nd November 2014) where the
riders will be looking to pick up
as many points as possible at the
two-round stop in Asia. T
