S**t, I’m going to grab the torch and try and do something about it!” understand freestyle motocross; it’s like why does this crazy guy hanging off his bike doing tricks not beat the other crazy guy hanging off his bike doing tricks? I just think it needs to be laid down on a clean field so people can understand how the judging works, and not just leave it up to a bit of secrecy by having judges sitting behind boards coming up with numbers that don’t really mean anything. It will be cool to see things apples for apples, pears for pears you know. to the judging, everything has got a bit skewed of late, and it adds to the reason why freestyle motocross is going through a bit of a stranglehold. It’s like the events never have justified winners, which is probably based off of illegitimate scoring. There’s a void we need to fill there to help make it a bit more justified. I think if it was all a bit more open and they explained why decisions are as they are, it would make it a lot easier for people at home to follow. I think if it was more transparent, and people knew why one rider finishes above another, we’d be on track to helping the masses understand the sport. People who watch regular, giant sports like cricket, football or tennis don’t So coming back to the concept for the project I’m working on with Brian Manley and Nate Adams: we want to find a whole new way of judging this sport.
