built some sick new jumps there recently that I haven’t seen yet. From the freestyle ramps you go into a small tabletop that goes into a pretty big 28m dirt step-up and then the new one is this 32m dirt double straight after. As an FMX4Ever rider I ride ramps a lot. I’m always working on new tricks and my ramp riding, but when you get to Royal Hills – suddenly the ramps are the least fun thing. There’s just so many nice dirt and natural terrain jumps. £ Kai Haase tearing up the motocross track As well as riding the freeride jumps I like to mix it up with the new supercross track. It’s not like an AMA supercross track, but it is pretty technical. You can run through the rhythm sections in lots of different ways and make some pretty big jumps if you want. You almost want to take three bikes with you when you go to this place: an FMX bike for the ramps, freeride and SX, then a full-on MX bike because the motocross track is just so good, and of course you need a good enduro bike because some of the trails get pretty steep and technical (laughs). When you’re riding and having fun on one section at Royal Hills you always find yourself looking round at another section, and wanting to ride that. Then as soon as you get there you’re still looking round at the other sections – it’s like being a kid in a candy store! That’s Royal Hills.” Royal Hills truly is a moto experience like no other. I found myself likening my time there to that of a snowboard trip, an experience I had never really had before with motocross. Road tripping to France with a big crew of riders and friends to eat, live, laugh and ride with for a full week without any bulls**t was simply a dream come true. Like anyone else who’s had the pleasure of riding at Royal Hills, I can’t wait to get back there. T Want to ride Royal Hills for yourself?
