everything I have built has taken
photographs and filming into
account. So there’s nothing too
user friendly unless you’re at a
pro level.
I’m not sure I want to make it a
place where everyone can come
out and ride ‘till I’ve had all my
fun. For a while it seemed like I
did so much for everyone else, so
I’m just taking a minute with this
place to do my own thing. At this
point in my career I feel like it’s
time to do something for myself
- I’m just doing it because I love
to do it.
Whenever we
build I'm the
one doing all
the shovelling,
raking and
watering
Do you sometimes get into a
build and say to yourself: man I
hope this jump works?
Oh, yeah, for sure (laughs). I
basically just built this entire jump
park and while we were building
it I’d say we should put a take-off
here and there. I had two friends
running equipment the whole time
- one of them rode, and the other
didn’t, so I had to kind of guide
them along the way on what to
do. Sometimes I would come
back and see the lip and say
“maybe we should break out the
tape measure - it’s looking pretty
big” (laughs). We’d put the tape
on it and then I’d say “whatever, it
looks good”, and jump it (laughs).
You gotta trust your own opinion
and know it’s good enough.
I had three other guys come ride
with me and they jumped three of
the twelve jumps, so it’s definitely
no joke. I had Larry Linkogle
come out and ride and although
he’s more of an icon in the sport
now, it’s cool he still rides. u
