£ Long nights shovelling are all part of the game So how’s Dan Pastor been lately? I’ve been really good! Where are you living these days? I live in Cambria, CA, the Central Coast - about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Have you been doing a lot of riding lately? Yeah, I’d say that this year I’ve been doing more riding than ever, especially over the past five years. I’m at a new spot now that is much better for riding compared to anywhere else I’ve ever been. Looking at the pictures it looks sick. It’s very reminiscent of Jackpot’s land... Yeah, it’s funny you should say that because when Jackpot came out here and rode with me, he said my place in Cambria is like his ranch on steroids and I said what do you mean? He said there are green, grass-covered rolling hills and jumps like at his place, but everything is a lot bigger and there’s way more of it. The hills are so big that you have to walk | FreestyleXtreme.com When they thank me it's an enormous pleasure and I'm very happy that my experience in FMX can make an important contribution towards developing new riders around them just to put everything in perspective and see just how steep some of the transitions are. You know I’ve been riding freestyle motocross for the last fifteen years and I don’t have anything against riding ramps, but freeriding in the hills forces you to be creative and constantly presents new challenges and that always helps keep it fresh. It has definitely rekindled my interests in riding dirt bikes again. It seems like for some riders it comes full circle with freeriding. You start out here, move onto FMX and ramps and then once you pass the competition phase of your career you’re back out in the hills freeriding again? Right, right, you remember why you started out riding in the first place. They’re called dirt bikes not ramp bikes for a reason (laughs). I like riding dirt bikes! What’re your plans for the property? Right now I’m just enjoying the fact that I have somewhere to ride that’s unique. Sometimes I just go out there to hang out and walk around; I take my dog and just enjoy it. I look for jumps and lines, check out transitions and picture what the shots would look like in my head.
