£ Long nights shovelling
are all part of the game
So how’s Dan Pastor been
lately?
I’ve been really good!
Where are you living these
days?
I live in Cambria, CA, the Central
Coast - about halfway between
Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Have you been doing a lot of
riding lately?
Yeah, I’d say that this year I’ve
been doing more riding than ever,
especially over the past five years.
I’m at a new spot now that is
much better for riding compared
to anywhere else I’ve ever been.
Looking at the pictures it looks
sick. It’s very reminiscent of
Jackpot’s land...
Yeah, it’s funny you should say
that because when Jackpot came
out here and rode with me, he
said my place in Cambria is like
his ranch on steroids and I said
what do you mean? He said there
are green, grass-covered rolling
hills and jumps like at his place,
but everything is a lot bigger and
there’s way more of it. The hills
are so big that you have to walk

When they thank me it's an
enormous pleasure and I'm very
happy that my experience in
FMX can make an important
contribution towards
developing new riders
around them just to put everything
in perspective and see just how
steep some of the transitions are.
You know I’ve been riding
freestyle motocross for the last
fifteen years and I don’t have
anything against riding ramps,
but freeriding in the hills forces
you to be creative and constantly
presents new challenges and that
always helps keep it fresh. It has
definitely rekindled my interests in
riding dirt bikes again.
It seems like for some riders it
comes full circle with freeriding.
You start out here, move onto
FMX and ramps and then once
you pass the competition phase
of your career you’re back out
in the hills freeriding again?
Right, right, you remember why
you started out riding in the first
place. They’re called dirt bikes not
ramp bikes for a reason (laughs). I
like riding dirt bikes!
What’re your plans for the
property?
Right now I’m just enjoying the
fact that I have somewhere to
ride that’s unique. Sometimes I
just go out there to hang out and
walk around; I take my dog and
just enjoy it. I look for jumps and
lines, check out transitions and
picture what the shots would look
like in my head. Right now u
