£ Sunday 8th of July saw Travis Pastrana slip into some retro leather and onto an Indian Scout FTR750 (a flat-track racing bike pushing twice the weight of the bikes he’s used to jumping) for three huge stunts. The vehicle-jumping section of the show involved Travis clearing 52 crushed cars and then 16 Greyhound buses - with a jump over the Caesars Palace fountain in the evening. #throwback: Travis Pastrana’s Evel Knievel tribute We normally use this section to honour our favourite historical moments of awesomeness, but this issue we’re featuring Travis Pastrana paying tribute to the legend that was Evel Knievel - where he recreated Knievel’s historic Las Vegas car, bus and fountain jumps. £ Although the bus jump was the longest at about 60 metres, the 45-metre fountain jump required much more elevation. It also needed a different approach to the attempt Knievel failed in 1967. Development over the decades meant Pastrana had to make the jump in the opposite direction, with a greatly shortened approach. 114 | FreestyleXtreme.com
