You won the overall British National
downhill series last season. How
did that feel going into the off-
season with that behind you?
It was nice, yeah. I’ve never won the
overall and I’ve never won that many
BDS, so it was nice. I like the fact
that we’re carrying on some races in
the UK so I can try and get some this
season as well.
What have you done to get ready
for the season?
I’ve just been in the gym lots. We
couldn’t ride a lot because of the
snow. That was a bit of a bummer,
but we tried when we could and
mainly just went in the gym and the
skate park.
I’ve also tried to do a few more races
and go into the season with a bit
more knowledge and experience. I’ve
been to Crankworx in New Zealand
and got lots of dry time there, though
it still peed it down on race day! That
was awesome though, I raced the
dual slalom and the downhill.
Would you normally ride a lot
during the off-season?
I try to, yeah! Hence why I moved to
the UK from France in the first place!
We do try and ride when we can
though. It’s always a lot more than I’d
have been able to back in the day in
France though.
What’s your plan for the rest of this
season?
I’m going to be racing all the World
Cups, and if everything goes to
plan I’ll make it to the full National
series - though I think there’s one
that crosses over. I’ll also be at
Crankworx. I’m just going to try and
ride my bike as much as I can.
You won the overall last year, same
again this year? Are you going to
give the competition a bit of a run
for their money?
Yeah, definitely, I want to try and win
everything I enter. I’m going to try
and make that happen.
And what bike are you on this
year?
I’m on the Transition TR11, it’s not
been out that long. It’s a lot different
to the last one we had, it’s much
racier. It’s got Fox suspension that’s
all tuned up by Fox themselves,
which is real nice. There’s some
custom Ergon bikes, I’ve got
Shimano all over, Crankbrothers and
yeah, that’s about it. It’s a custom
paint job which you can’t buy but
otherwise, everything else is stock
standard. t
