Not many people know this, but
you’ve got a pretty different life away
from snowboarding as well…
Yeah, this is something of a first
time telling people, but I run a farm
back home with my family. It’s a
funny mix because I’ll be out at a
competition somewhere and then
back to help out with lambing season.
Having that peaceful life out in the
countryside is great, away from the
hectic snowboarding life where you’re
travelling and competing and throwing
big tricks.
You must be ripe for your own line
of colab’ snowboarding X farming
gear… Maybe you can supply wool
for your own signature jacket?
I’d love to work towards something
like that, maybe a board with a tractor
pulling a snowboarder. The ideas are
there!
I always used to be like ‘ah, it’s
snowing I can’t ride the park today’. But
now when it snows all I’m thinking is
‘yes, powder day!’ I love it. You have to
work harder for a shot in backcountry
because everything’s constantly
changing, there are no lifts or ready-
made kickers, but I like the idea of that.
We’ll see. t

I mean I’d like to get a couple more
good contest results and magazine
covers, but the thing that’s really got
me thinking at the moment is riding
backcountry. Watching Travis Rice’s
movies “Fourth Phase” and “Depth
Perception, I was like, yeah, that
looks fresh. I’ve been riding park and
competitions for a decade and seeing
that style of backcountry riding, it was
an eye opener.
So now you’re back and healthy…
what’s next?
