New year new stress?
The UK weather has been pretty
miserable, and put paid to almost any
outdoor sports for me. A few days
of snow briefly made things a bit
more exciting – I got the chance to
snowboard past my own front door and
pretend to be Ken Block in the staff
car park.
But there was no downing tools or
taking our foot off the gas – this is
actually one of our busiest times of the
year! We’ve been setting up new studio
space and working on the first range of
FreestyleXtreme merch – which you can
get your hands on at any round of the
MXGP. If you’re heading to any of the
races, stop by the store and say hello
to Jeff!
Meanwhile, on the other side of the
planet, the occupants of Frew Farm
were getting ready to welcome the best
of the two-wheeled action-sports world
to their corner of New Zealand for Farm
Jam 2018. No small task!
Farm Jam is honestly one of our
favourite dates on the calendar –
blending the honesty and simplicity of
a grassroots event with a standard of
riding and awesomeness you’d often
see reserved for things with “Red Bull”,
“Monster” or “ESPN” in the title. We’ve
put our money where our mouth is
on this one too: you’ll find a bumper
feature starting on page 50 with Simon
Makker reporting on the festivities.
Elsewhere in this issue we’ve got our
favourite shots from DarkFEST, the
Monte Carlo Rally and Sam Reynolds’
quarry setup. On the interview front we
spoke to Sam Turnbull (the first member
of the FreestyleXtreme Snow team), Luc
Ackermann and heard the awesome
story behind the birth of Bristol’s very
own Campus Skateparks.
Here’s to a rad (and slightly more chill)
April!

elcome to the first
issue of 2018 - bit late
you might ask? Well,
honestly, Jan and Feb
can be slow on the news front! So we
don’t want to put any weak s**t out!
