Adidas Snow 5 minutes with... Corey Copeland Where are you from? Doncatraz, aka, Doncaster, South Yorkshire. How did you first get into snowboarding? I kinda migrated from skateboarding when I was 18. My mum bought me a couple of lessons at Cas Xscape (Castleford’s indoor slope) - Cas Vegas. I was hooked from then - and religiously face-planted there for the next four years with a good crew. First board? My first board was a Ride Kink. I think it was a 155? I’ll have to dig it out. I find it hard to chuck a board, so yeah I’ve still got it. It does have a couple snaps though - but they add character, right? Who was your snowboarding inspiration? I used to get so hyped watching Tyler Chorlton edits back in the day. Probably why I love a front flip. And with starting shredding at Cas, I used to watch Johnny Russell and the crew kill it week in, week out. Some rail tech right there. Most overrated place to board? It’s definitely not overrated, and I’ve heard it’s a banger. But it’s funny how people assume you’ve been to Whistler when you say you’ve ridden Canada. Most underrated place to board? Dry slopes. All of them. Favourite trick to stomp? On the rails, Front Blunt to regs. On the jumps, FS 3 Indie off the toes. Any tricks or locations still on your to-do list? There was a big old hand rail in Kuopio, Finland, that myself and Rob Cartledge were trying to 270 out of for a full day one time but never got it. I’d like to go back and get that one. As for a location, Helsinki’s up there on the list. Favourite way to spend a day off the slopes? Skating/chilling/partying. Sounds about right. In that order. Favourite music? A mix of rock, DNB and Adele. Favourite food? Fajitas all day. Where to next? This winter you’ll find me either in the dome, or chilling at that spot somewhere in Finland, filming with the Boobytrap crew. So hyped. t When did you know you wanted to do it for a living? I’ve pretty much known I was in it for the long-run since I first strapped in. Really caught the buzz. Whether my knees are in it for the long-run too might be a different story, but they’re hangin’ in there! FreestyleXtreme.com | 43
