.......... .......... Five minutes with... Heath Frisby ...................... I daho’s Heath Frisby is one of the most well known and experienced hands in snowmobiling - having seen his career grow alongside the sport. With eleven X Games medals to his name, no one doubts Heath’s contribution to the scene, but he’s still got a few things left he wants to do. We caught up with Heath at Masters of Dirt, where he was plying his trade in the not-so-winter-sports venue of a packed indoor arena... I think we’re about the same age man, you must have been getting into bikes and stuff around when FMX was blowing up... Yes, for sure. I grew up just as any normal kid in my area. A lot of farming, a lot stuff like that. Motorsports wasn’t just something we did for fun; it was really a way of life. We worked on the farm. We rode four wheelers, rode motorcycles, rode snowmobiles, always had something to ride. It started first with bikes. You just had a natural talent for bikes? Yeah, doing tricks on bikes and then I realised I was really good on snowmobiles – the sport was getting going so I started doing it. I kept pursuing bikes as well on the side just for fun, but I always tried to stay busy on one or the other. What was it like growing up on a potato farm? It taught me a lot of good things. Work ethic, you know: when it’s time to go and have fun, go have as much fun as you can, because work is going to start tomorrow kind of thing. It taught me a lot of valuable things, learning from my father how to work and how to do it right. Not to give up on anything. It was cool to have that. u FreestyleXtreme.com | 33
