At the end of the camp we spent a
day at the foam pit and everybody
was super stoked. We had a 45-year-
old guy who had been riding dirt bike
for just three years, and he jumped a
ramp for the first time and was super
pumped after that. That gave me a
huge satisfaction to see how much
positive energy this dude took from
the camp. This is the reason, why we
will continue doing the camps.
Last winter you went to South
America to watch the Rally Dakar.
What did you make of it?
My plan is to ride the Dakar myself
on a motorbike one day. I went there
to see how it actually is, because
everybody can tell you how hard it is
but you have to see it with your own
eyes to really understand the Dakar
Rally.
Actually, my plan was to ride the next
Dakar, but it is really expensive and
not to be taken lightly. First I need
to find some sponsors for that and
you also need at least seven months
to prepare for this exhausting event.
You have to ride a lot of enduro
before you even think about taking
part there. But I definitely will be
there in the near future. I will really
enjoy it to just ride for myself with no
one around me in the desert. I think
it is a really big mental game, just like
freestyle is.
That will be the next chapter for me
after freestyle.
You’re planning to be out of the
scene in the next three-or-so
years?
I will definitely ride freestyle for the
next three years. I still want one more
World Championship title under my
belt. After that I will try to focus on
the Dakar and help my brother out
and manage him in the freestyle
world. There is also a plan to move
to Sri Lanka and start a new chapter
there. But nothing is for sure right
now. Let’s see where life takes me!
Thanks a lot! t
