The Summer of Sherwood
Issue 20 is here! Twenty is actually my lucky
number, so maybe when the MXoN hits at the
end of September I’ll put a few bets on. You can check out our coverage from the
X-Fighters on page 67, and a look at X Games’
revitalisation in a new venue on page 46.
Speaking of luck, we’re not a completely
superstitious bunch, but… considering we
regularly interview athletes from some of
the most dangerous sports in the world,
we’ve always been acutely wary of whether
we’re a good or a bad omen. Is there a
FreestyleXtreme Magazine curse? Will your
results slump and your jumps fail if you grace
our pages for an interview? There’ve been
a few signs in the past that there might be,
but it certainly had no effect whatsoever on
Kiwi FMXer, Levi Sherwood (whose awesome
and frank chat with Simon Makker featured a
couple of issues back). If FMX isn’t your thing, you can also get your
fix of MTB with Danny Hart (page 94) and
LooseFEST (page 39). On the skate side of
things, we’ve got coverage of DC’s Special
Delivery 3 tour (page 24) and the best shots
from Volcom’s visit to Campus’ ‘The Pool’
skatepark (page 83).
Since his interview, Levi has swept what will
likely come to be called the grand-slam of
FMX: Nitro World Games gold, first place at
Red Bull X-Fighters and gold at X Games (a
fantastic achievement that caps of a year
of hard work). I’m not saying we’re partly
responsible, but if anyone runs into Valentino
Rossi, please let him know we’ve got pages
waiting for him (get well soon Vale!). Until next time!
Michael Laverty also provides his customary
insight into the more eye-wateringly high-
speed side of two-wheeled motorsport with an
interview with MotoGP’s Johann Zarco (page
57).
And of course, much more.
