Race weekends usually begin
with travel on a Wednesday. Are
you adapting to airports or do
you dislike them?
LOVE ‘EM, can’t get enough of
them, I could live at an airport!
[laughs]
No, you get used to it, after years
of travelling I just go into a ‘mode’
where I just cruise through it and
usually get there in plenty of time
as I hate stressing and having to
rush in them.
I’d rather sit around and have a
coffee than run like a prat through
the terminal - missing flights is a
complete ball-ache so avoid that
where possible.

You see enough of them so
which would you say is your
least and most favourite
airport?
Uuuum least favourite airport?
There are so many, many s**t
airports! It’s hard to pick but
Stansted is pretty crap, as it’s
always rammed. There are a
million Ryanair flights going out of
there every day, people barging
into you left right and center and
wherever you go there’s a queue.
I try not to get too frustrated with
it. And my favourite; Heathrow
T5 is pretty cool because it’s so
modern, but Gatwick with its new
security is also good. Getting
through there is a breeze, so I’d
say that one wins.
Carrying on the travelling
theme: any particularly funny
experiences from the last
season or so?
Travel related… At Laguna last
year I was given probably the
nicest car I have ever had at a
race, maybe the nicest car I have
ever had! BMW hooked us up
with this super nice 7 series; long
wheelbase, all the boxes ticked,
every extra under the sun and a
sick matte white paint job.
Me and my mate James had a
buy up and this car was rammed
with skateboards, boxes, gadgets
and God knows what else. So
about three hours before our flight
