Race weekends usually begin with travel on a Wednesday. Are you adapting to airports or do you dislike them? LOVE ‘EM, can’t get enough of them, I could live at an airport! [laughs] No, you get used to it, after years of travelling I just go into a ‘mode’ where I just cruise through it and usually get there in plenty of time as I hate stressing and having to rush in them. I’d rather sit around and have a coffee than run like a prat through the terminal - missing flights is a complete ball-ache so avoid that where possible. p back to contents You see enough of them so which would you say is your least and most favourite airport? Uuuum least favourite airport? There are so many, many s**t airports! It’s hard to pick but Stansted is pretty crap, as it’s always rammed. There are a million Ryanair flights going out of there every day, people barging into you left right and center and wherever you go there’s a queue. I try not to get too frustrated with it. And my favourite; Heathrow T5 is pretty cool because it’s so modern, but Gatwick with its new security is also good. Getting through there is a breeze, so I’d say that one wins. Carrying on the travelling theme: any particularly funny experiences from the last season or so? Travel related… At Laguna last year I was given probably the nicest car I have ever had at a race, maybe the nicest car I have ever had! BMW hooked us up with this super nice 7 series; long wheelbase, all the boxes ticked, every extra under the sun and a sick matte white paint job.
