GO BIG
riders, Gonta and Genki also rode
impressively during the semifinals. Both riders gave solid runs,
which made it hard to predict who
would get into the finals.
After a short break the rider
announcement for the finals
was made. Bupper, Kota, and
Daice all made the finals - which
was really no surprise as they
all killed their runs - but then it
came time to call the fourth
finalist. Everyone knew it was
down to Genki and Gonta,
but which young gun
would have the chance
to compete against the
veterans in the finals?
After a short pause (for
dramatic effect of course),
Gonta’s name was called
and the crowd went
wild! Although Gonta was
surprised to hear his name,
he was ecstatic for his first
chance to compete in the finals
of GO BIG.
Following a crazy Whip contest,
won by Bupper, the GO BIG
finals were held. First to ride was
Gonta, and even though it was
his first final at GO BIG, he had
a clean run and pulled off all his
tricks without fail. During his three
weeks in France, Gonta trained
under Tom Pagès and learned
some cool new tricks. Second up
was Buppa, who threw down a
strong run, once again pulling off
a nice One Hand Back Flip Nac
Nac along with his signature Whip
and other big tricks. Third in the
finals was Kota, and although he
pulled off many of his big tricks,
he unfortunately had a Back Flip
Dead
Sailor,
which put him behind the other
three riders with clean runs. Lastly
was Daice, who came out with
force, throwing down a barrage
of regular and flip tricks to control
the round. With his last trick Daice
took his 360 to a new level and
pulled off a great 360 Nac Nac to
solidify his GO BIG dominance.
To close the event, all
participating riders took to the
course to participate in a huge
train. All the riders took this
opportunity to explode with their
remaining energy, revving the
fans into a frenzy. If you have
never seen a train with fifteen plus
FMX riders, I can assure you it’s
something pretty special!
When the dust settled and the
riders returned it was time to
announce the winners. In third,
with his first
