DA BOOT SUPERPARK
number of contests and demos
around Europe. We met up again
at Masters of Dirt in 2011 and
seeing that we had collaborated
well together, he finally decided to
come to Italy to train with myself
and the Da Boot crew. It was a
wonderful experience... He taught
us new jumps and I taught him
how to make pizza!
You’re right up in the Dolomite
Mountains here; does the park
get any snow in the winter?
The park lies in a wide valley
at the foot of the Dolomite
Mountains, but the minimum
altitude is only about 400 metres
above sea level. It doesn’t usually
snow much in the town or at the
park. If it does snow it’s during
the colder winter months at the
end of December or beginning
of January. The snow never
lasts long, and you can jump
practically all year round - even
during winter when it gets cold.
We’ve even done video shoots
while it’s snowing at the park with
the mountains covered in snow,
just to create some footage that’s
different from the norm.
Do you do the park
maintenance and building
yourself?
I originally built the park by and
for myself. Obviously there were
other people who helped me,
including riders from Da Boot.
The owner of the quarry where
the park is located and a friend
of mine who is an excavator help
me out whenever I want to make
radical changes. Fortunately
there’s always Red Bull as well,
who support me because they
continue to believe in what I do.
Who builds all your ramps?
The ramps were and still are built
by some young blacksmith friends
of mine. Based on my plans and
information, they have built more
than 35 ramps for me and Da
Boot in a huge range of sizes and
radiuses. They have done more
for some foreign riders as well.
What’s the hardest part of the
park to ride? u
