he music always begins at 6 pm on July 3rd with the Patriotic Musical , featuring songs of our country sung by the children of the community . Led by Musical Director , Karen Crane , local schoolchildren of all ages will be singing songs of our country and paying tribute to our active military and veterans . This event will be held for the first time at the Morgan Hill Community Center located at the corner of E . Dunne Avenue and Monterey Road .
The 2015 Family Street Dance is back at its traditional location on Monterey Road in downtown Morgan Hill . The music will begin on July 3rd at 7 pm with a salute to our veterans from the VFW Post 6309 , and the national anthem performed by Angeline Madriaga , a local 12 year-old who will be an 8th grader at St . Catherine ’ s School this fall . She will also sing the National Anthem at the start of the 5K Race and the Fireworks Show as well !
Janet Thompson will take the Main Stage for a special live performance . She is a guitar playin ’, blues singin ’, local musician from San Martin who has performed at a number of local venues including Mama Mia ’ s and 88 Keys in Morgan Hill .
Janet learned to play guitar from a series of tapes of lessons which her older sister took from guitarist , Jorma Kaukonen , of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna .
The Usual Suspects will highlight the 2015 Family Street Dance with their high-energy classic rock . One of the South Bay ’ s most popular bands , they feature everything from Allman Brothers , Lynyrd Skynyrd , and ZZ Topp , to Santana , U2 , Rolling Stones , Tom Petty , Van Halen , AC / DC and so much more . The Usual Suspects have performed each of the past 18 years as part of the Morgan Hill Freedom Fest Celebrations alternating between the Family Street Dance and the Fireworks Show and have performed recently at local venues such as Sarah ’ s Vineyard , GVA , and the District Theater in Gilroy .
This year ’ s Fireworks Show will begin at 5 pm on the 4th and will be held for the third year at the Morgan Hill Sports Center on Condit Road between Dunne and Tennant Avenues . We are excited to provide some great musical acts to help you celebrate Independence Day !
The show will start with the R & B / Jazz Vocals of local favorite , David Johnson .
David has been busy all over the South Bay at venues such as Sarah ’ s Vineyard , Clos La Chance , 88 Keys and Milias . Come early to stakeout prime space for the Fireworks and enjoy the fun and great music that David brings to the stage !
Closing out the Fireworks show will be the Country Cougars , who will play until the fireworks begin at dark . The Country Cougars play a mix of new country – hits from hot artists such as Little Big Town , Miranda Lambert , and
