tion. “I’ve always been pretty muscular
growing up on a farm and horse-riding.
I was working at a restaurant called
JOEY. There was a regular that came
in and he said I should definitely enter a
bodybuilding competition to see if I like
it.” Abi was looking to escape her comfort
zone, so this suggestion was extremely
enticing. “I did one show and I loved it.”
Just like that, Abi found exactly what she
was searching for.
Moving forward, Abi acquired a coach
to help guide her through the process
of preparing for future competitions.
She researched, watched friends
compete and acquired two personal
training certifications. Fitness quickly
became the central part of Abi’s life. “I
just really found a passion for the sport

in terms of a career in helping people
and teaching people that you can be
in shape and feel good about yourself
emotionally and physically, but then also
have fun with the whole sports side of
it,” Abi explained. She now works both
on improving herself as a competitor,
while also maintaining a full-time job as
a personal trainer at Life Time Fitness
Health Club in Vaughan.
So far in the competitive realm of her
profession, Abi has participated in 12
shows and placed within the top 5 in
10 of them. Most recently, in 2016 Abi
was the Bikini Class D Champion in
the Canadian BodyBuilding Federation
World Qualifier and in 2017, placed 5th
overall at the Arnold Amateur Classic
in Bikini Class D.
