ASSOCIATION NEWS Fragrance Creators Expands Dialogue with EPA Admin & Staff Group shared solutions for challenges with the new chemicals program, advocating for approval of new fragrance ingredients On March 15, 2019, Fragrance Creators staff and members had a successful meeting with newly confirmed head of the Environmen- tal Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP), Alexandra Dunn, Ph.D., and her staff at EPA offices in Washington, D.C. Continuing its established dialogue with EPA, Fragrance Creators presented data and solutions to address stalled industry inno- vation—an unintended consequence of the new chemicals approval process. Fragrance Creators members spoke to the challenges their companies face as both new chemi- cal creators and buyers, providing direct examples of burdensome requirements and their impacts throughout the fragrance value chain, all of which was illuminating for EPA staff. Ahmed, President & Chief Executive Officer, Fragrance Creators Association - Taiwo Koyejo, Ph.D., Chief Regulatory Scientist, Fragrance Creators Association - Lia Dangelico, Director, Communica- tions, Fragrance Creators Association - Amanda Nguyen, Director, Government Affairs & Legal, Fragrance Creators Association All agreed it was an engaging and pro- ductive meeting, with Administrator Dunn requesting a follow-up meeting and further dialogue. Fragrance Creators is appreciative of EPA and Administrator Dunn’s openness and willingness to make progress on new chemicals. At the 2019 Global Chemical Regulations Conference in early March 2019 in Washington, D.C., Dunn acknowledged the agency has not been moving as quickly as she’d like and assured attendees she is prepared for a full regulatory lineup in 2019.
