THE WYNN-ING CLEAN WYNN’S provides motor factors a unique opportunity by offering motorists a cost-effective way to maintain their turbochargers and diesel engines. The use of turbochargers have come a long way since it was first used on the Mercedes-Benz 300SD in 1978. Today, almost all diesel engines are turbocharged and a number of new petrol engines have adopted the technology too. As vehicles today are expected to be more powerful and perform at a higher efficiency, it is no wonder that turbocharger applications have increased significantly. However, turbochargers are not infallible. They need maintenance and care, just like other components to help ensure the longevity of the part. TURBO POWER SIMPLIFIED By forcing more air into the combustion chamber of an engine, a turbochar ger allows more fuel and air into the cylinders of the engine to create better combustion and performance. This provides greater power and more efficiency, without needing to increase the size of an engine. Turbochargers today use Variable Vane Technology (VVT) or Variable Geometry Technology (VGT) which alters the flow directing more or less exhaust gas into the turbine blades. Altering the flow like this adjusts the speed of the turbo to suit the needs of the engine. TURBOCHARGED ISSUES Turbochargers are built to operate at extremely high pressures and temperatures. Therefore, the build-up of impurities can lead to catastrophic effects. As deposits build up on turbo vanes, it can cause the vanes to stick which affects the performance of the engine. This can result in: • Loss of power • Over/under boosting • Expensive repair bills • Erratic performance • Limp home mode Often, sticking variable vanes will result in the illumination of the engine management light, with a fault code for low or high boost. SIMPLE, COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTION Wynn’s Diesel Turbo Cleaner is suitable for all diesel engines and biodiesel up to B30. It is recommended for all diesel engines fitted with a turbocharger, EGR valve or oxidation catalyst. The special formula restores efficient operation of the variable vanes without the need to dismantle the turbocharger. Wynn’s Diesel Turbo Cleaner does this by: • Removing deposits (oil and unburned fuel particles) from the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) • Cleaning and freeing sticky vanes of the variable turbo • Having a good cleaning effect on the EGR valve • Improving combustion and reduce soot emissions • Restoring engine power FACTOR IN OPPORTUNITIES Using Wynn’s Diesel Turbo Cleaner is simple. Motorists just have to add one bottle of 500ml to minimum of 40 litres of fuel, with every third tank. For optimum results, motorists are advised to use the Wynn’s Diesel Extreme Cleaner in conjunction with the Diesel Turbo Cleaner to clean high-pressure common rail fuel injectors and maximise combustion efficiency. Wynn’s provides motor factors with excellent cross-selling and up- selling opportunities through their extensive range of additives that prevent and solve problems that affect the operation of the engine.
