Mary Lane has been exceptionally helpful and willing to share her expertise and years of experience with teachers who are starting to work on aspects of the different programs. Sharon Schapiro Coach at Ravenswood School for Girls The tireless work and enthusiasm of Mary Lane will always be something that I remember. Margot Hadfield Coach at Mt St Benedict College Mary Lane with the Keith Frampton Award 2008 STEP 6: ACTION PLAN About an Action Plan: An Action Plan is written for the best solution decided in step 5. It must be written as a proposal explaining how the solution idea will be implemented. The team must remember to focus on the operation of the plan, displayed through a timeline. The timeline should be comprised of realistic dates and tasks for implementing the solution. Obstacles and challenges which are likely to arise as the solution is being implemented should be explained with possible solutions. A good Action Plan is well planned and makes clear how the team’s idea is a workable solution for their Underlying Problem. What makes Step 6 challenging? The main challenge when creating an Action Plan is trying to finish a comprehensive plan within the little time left. Often teams will experience difficulties when developing a realistic time frame for each of their tasks. In CmPS, a challenge many students face is creating an Action Plan that they are able to carry out, though in the FPS Booklet, the Action Plan is theoretical and this is not an issue. 17
