Have you always been afraid to travel to new places? Well, guess what? I was too, but that all changed after I decided to face my fears and take my first cruise this year. Better than that, I took the plunge even further and decided to become a travel agent with the Fox Travel team. Sure, I had been to places within the U.S. as a child, but I almost always got homesick. In my adult life, I was so focused on paying bills and going back and forth to work. The idea of a Caribbean vacation never really crossed my mind and I was forever telling myself that planning a Caribbean vacation was too costly. I was totally okay with driving 30 minutes to the beach -- now that’s not saying that it’s not okay to drive to the beach if you’re near one, but I knew that there had to be more to life than the everyday hustle and bustle.
Hard work paid in full
I came across a fellow co-worker of mine that consistently made plans once a year for her family to take a cruise or destination vacation. I began to slowly let go of my fears as I watched her display her vacation photos from her phone every year. She showed me the experiences that she and her family encountered by visiting different destinations and cultures which in turn created lasting memories that they would cherish forever. She would show which destination her family planned to travel to next and I would be astonished. I began to look at myself and wonder why I wasn’t reaping the benefit of my hard work through vacationing? I also, began to question, what was truly holding me back from where I wanted to be and why my life felt like I was on a hamster wheel with no real fun and excitement going on.
