12. With all fasteners removed, the individual components can be pulled away from the body. They will be cleaned, prepped, and hung up for repainting. 13. Another judgment call. The original front fascia had accumulated plenty of scars and a tear or two underneath. Fix or replace? The fascia could have been left on the car and repainted, but removing it is not that hard. NPD offers new replacements inexpensively (less than $120), and we were going to replace the yellowing headlights anyway, which is much easier with the fascia off. Unplug all lightbulbs, remove the series of bolts behind the fender and the screws from underneath, and the fascia will pull off. 12 14. Urethane parts also get a wet bath with Bleche White, followed by scuffing with a red ScotchBrite pad. 15. After the ScotchBrite treatment, a final sanding with 400- to 500-grit sandpaper readies the surface for paint. 16. Parts hang in the paint room and then get a final dusting with a tack cloth. 13 14 15 16 17 18 17. Peter applies the Deltron 2000. If the parts are going to sit more than a day, the paint will need some flex agent to prevent cracking when the parts are installed. These will go back on in less than 24 hours, so no flex agent will be added. After the red color coat, they get a coat of PPG 2042 clear. 18. The results speak for themselves. The gloss is back, and the once-shabby ’93 no longer looks like a forlorn Fox. From here, the makeover will continue.
