LT: What is the real job?
DS: Architectural design/
draughting, Got a bit more
study to do and then gotta
get registered so thats
my plan next year. Then
hopefully start up my own
little practice, can’t work for
the man all of your life eh.
Saying that my boss is rad.
LT: Anything in the pipework
we should know about? I
Just plan to keep riding, keep
fun times rolling. My main
man Paul Maguire and I have
some cool ideas for the 2013
season, now we just have to
execute them !
LT: I have to ask... Astrolabe
wines, most guys are
sponsored by energy drinks
brands, and you landed a
deal with a fine wines dealer
- if that’s not class then I
don’t know what is. How
did you manage that? And
do they turn up with a crate
every few weeks?
DS: I would have to be
way more extreme to be
sponsored by an energy drink
ha. Yeah they are such a cool
company, I worked in the
same office building as them
a year or so ago, they offered
to help me out before I went
oversea’s last year. Super
genuine people who are also
friends so that always helps.
Honestly, if they dropped off
a case of wine every week
I would probably never
get round to the wake, or
anything else for that matter,
so it’s good they don’t!
LT: Any Thanks?
DS: Of course. Mass’ thanks
to Dunc at Ronix (he has
housed me, found me a place
to live, clothed me, basically
nurtured me) Seadon, Matty
and O Dog from ilabb who
are just Mega, Jase and
Gareth at Oneill who keep
me from freezing in the dirty
south, and Jason/everyone at
Astrolabe. Also my parents
who have helped me in
everyway they can, And last
but definitely not least The
Rodfather, who has taken me
riding so much and helped
me out a lot too.
LT: I think alot of riders can
take something away from
talking to Stubbs. He’s an
insanely talented rider, but
he’s got both feet on the
ground. He works for a living
- and balances that with
riding. His focus is on making
tricks look good; instead of
getting another 180 in. If you
get time check out David’s
